Chants of “Miles, Miles, Miles Fucking Kane” could be heard through all the Kasbah even before the man himself took to the stage. His first show back in two years as part of the Revive live series had a sold-out crowd buzzing for his return.

Opening the show up was Brooke Combe, an artist I was not familiar with before the show. Her unmissable strong soulful voice carried the set through her own original tracks and two covers. “Are You With Me?” was a highlight, along with the cover of Arctic Monkey’s “Why’d you Only Call Me When Your High”, you can’t go wrong playing that at a Miles Kane gig.

Backed by a giant image of himself from his new album’s artwork Mile’s burst onto the stage armed with belter’s “First of My Kind” and “Inhaler”. It felt as if him and the band were letting off two years’ worth of pent-up energy. New track “Don’t Let it Get You Down” got its live debut, full of that classic Miles swagger and razor-sharp Rock n’ Roll lyrics.
According to his twitter Miles had chatted with the big man (Alex Turner) and treated the crowd to two Last Shadow Puppets classics ‘Aviation” and “Standing Next to Me”. Both went down a treat as to be expected, especially to a crowd of fans starved of live music for so long.

The rest of the set leant back on Miles’s own back catalogue of foot stompers, with the anthemic “Don’t Forget Who You Are” ending the hit filled show. A room full of sweaty smiling fans filtered out after being treated to a British Rock n Roll Masterclass. No wonder they kept on chanting his name long into the night.
