LIVE – Beach Fossils + Sunnbrella @ The Castle & Falcon, Birmingham, UK

It’s been 15 years since Beach Fossils burst onto the burgeoning jangled indie revival. Since then the band has grown and matured, without losing much of the magical that captured imaginations back in 2010. Nothing proves that more than latest album “Bunny”, and on its  tour Beach Fossils were back to remind everyone just what made them so special in the first place.

The que stretched down the road outside of the Castle and Falcon, everyone in line not just desperate to see Beach Fossils but also support act Sunnbrella. The London based artist also tapped into the same shoegaze sounds as the headliner, albeit with a slightly heavier edge that delighted the ever growing crowd.

The room was fit to burst by the time Beach fossils arrived kicking into gear with “Don’t Fade Away” and the now classic “Sugar”. Kif their were two words to accurately describe the night it would be “Hell Yeah’, shouted out constantly by the crowd and in-between the songs by bassist Jack.

As it was the last night of the EU tour the band were self admittedly tired, however that didn’t stop them putting on a masterclass of a show. Tracks from latest record “Bunny” sat comfortably alongside tracks from the ever -growing discography.

“Touring is difficult and tiring, this one goes out to all of you that come to support us” reflected leading man Dustin, before delighting the crowd with “Down the Line”.  Beach Fossils once again proved they are still at the top of their game, even 15 years after they broke onto the scene.
